Bolted ball-node construction.

Seven parts and no site welding. Pull the slider to take one joint apart; the labels identify each part.

1
One axis. Ball bore, bolt, sleeve, cone and tube are concentric on the member axis in both states.
2
Sleeve reads as a rectangle. A hex prism seen side-on, with the two hex edges shown as lines. It sits between the ball's milled face and the cone.
3
Pin is radial. It goes through the sleeve wall into the slot in the bolt shank, so turning the sleeve turns the bolt into the ball.
4
Bolt head inside the cone. The shank passes out through the cone's small end. The thread runs into the ball.
5
V ring behind the weld. Backing ring inside the tube end. The cone-to-tube girth weld is the only weld, done in our shop.
ASSEMBLY LOGICThe bolt and cone are fitted before the girth weld. On site the fitter turns the hex sleeve, the pin drives the bolt into the ball, and the sleeve ends up clamped between the ball face and the cone.

GeometryLX-03

The grid takes the shape of the building.

A space frame is a method, not a shape. Pick a form and drag it round. The connection logic is identical; only the geometry changes.

Selecting the systemLX-04

Size your roof in ten seconds.

Set the building footprint. You get a first-pass depth, grid module and steel range, and an honest answer on whether a space frame makes sense.

40m
60m

First pass for a uniformly loaded double-layer grid on four-side support, depth ≈ span / 20. Two-side support, heavy suspended loads, cantilevers and free-form all change it. Steel on a 20 to 30 kg/m² planning basis. Illustrative only; not structural design, a quantity take-off or a quotation.

ManufacturingLX-07

Members are manufactured in Pakistan, on our own line.

From raw tube to a finished, tagged member in six steps, with length held to the cut list rather than to a fitter's mark.

CNC plasma cutting and bevelling line
01Cut and bevel

CHS cut to the exact length on the cut list and bevelled for the weld.

02Position the cones

Cones set on both ends and tack-welded, with the bolt fitted inside.

Automatic dual-head girth welding
03Girth weld

Both ends welded at once by an automatic dual-head machine, to AWS D1.1.

Coated members on the finishing line
04Surface treatment

Blast-cleaned and coated or galvanised to the project specification.

CNC machining of a ball node
05Node machining

Threaded bores cut on computed axes, so the grid closes on site.

Materials and standardsLX-09

Specified to American standards.

Material specifications and certificates are reviewed for each project. Alternative grades require the structural engineer’s approval; matching labels alone do not establish equivalence.

Draft specification references for engineering review. Listed certifications and their scope must be verified before publication.
